Applications
The CMM series of rotary tables has been specifically designed to complement the highest quality Coordinate Measuring Machines and is based on experiences we have gained over hundreds of successful installations world wide.
Construction
The principle castings are made from high grade stabilised cast iron with the tables top protected from corrosion by Electroless Nickel Plating and comes complete with a series of tapped holes to suit customer’s requirements.
A Fibre Glass Cover colour coded to match your machines aesthetics protects the Zero Backlash Servo Drive. The drive system utilises a friction drive ring to eliminate any backlash between the servo drive and the table top it must position. The removal of backlash enables the drive to accurately position the table top without instability over its entire load carrying capacity. The design characteristics of the table drive negate axial and radial forces that would otherwise influence precise table geometry.
Bearing
The AB rotary table combines the high load capacity thin film air thrust bearing as the CB table with a traditional radial air bearing. The radial air bearing manufactured from AISI440C stainless steel combined with the air thrust bearing offers a 10 fold improvement in mechanical geometry over the MB rotary table. This combination of bearings is ideal for centred components where the highest of accuracies is required.
Measuring Systems
Various encoder types from Heidenhain and Renishaw can be mounted directly to the axis of rotation offering positional accuracies of +/-1 to +/- 0.4 arc seconds. Encoder signals provide the control system with 18,000lpr to 180,000lpr at 1vpp. Distance coded encoders can also be supplied to reduce datum time.
Motors
Various motor types available.
Options Include
Home Switch: A limit or proximity switch can be fitted for use as a home reference in conjunction with the reference pulse of the encoder.
Air Floatation Base: The rotary table can be provided with air pads integrated into its base to enable the rotary table to glide over flat parallel surfaces. This option proves particularly useful in CMM applications where the table is moved to various locations to suit the users applications.
Service Indicator: A visible service indicator can be installed if required.
