RPI has recently won an order to supply a 5 circle Goniometer capable of operation in a 10‾9 vacuum due for installation and commissioning early in 2012.

The rotary stages are heavily based on RPI’s new range of in vacuum tables the VACARE series designed with reversible drive trains and multiple mounting faces offering the user the maximum flexibility whether used in isolation or in this case part of multi axis positioning system.

The Goniometer requires many specialised vacuum compatible materials and components to be brought together to enable the unit to function correctly in a UHV environment whilst maintaining ultimate strength and rigidity with high load carrying capabilities and exceptional geometry.
