RPI shortlisted to showcase engineering capabilities by global US aerospace manufacturer

RPI, the leading developer and manufacturer of precision rotary and angular positioning devices today (16 February 2022) announced that it had been selected by GE Aviation to demonstrate its rotational innovation at the GE Aviation Technology Showcase in Cincinnati next week (w/c 21st February 2022).

RPI shortlisted to showcase engineering capabilities by global US aerospace manufacturerThe Bath-based engineering company is one of only 25 advanced British engineering companies shortlisted form a possible 83 applicants to meet the aerospace multinational to demonstrate its capabilities, specifically in rotary measurement in which it has been leading the world for over 80 years.

The technology delivers the accuracy that is needed in a wide range of industries, from space, aircraft production, automotive and power generation.

Accuracy that is normally found in cutting-edge research laboratories is being delivered  by RPI’s rotary tables in production lines around the world, accuracy which enables those lines to manufacture planes, trains, automobiles and satellites right first time, day in day out.

The extremely precise angular and mechanical accuracies offered by RPI’s equipment would enable GE to more robustly control their engine assembly processes resulting in significant benefits including:

  • Reduced inspection and assembly times, by as much as 90%;
  • Improved engine rotor assemblies,
  • Decreasing costly rotor teardowns and
  • A reduction in engine vibration and fuel consumption.

And it is this that RPI will emphasize in Cincinnati, and how this engineering expertise could enable GE Aviation’s own technology. The Cincinnati meeting will be the first step for the company if it is to secure this significant export opportunity.
